Cinnamon Sri Lanka Photo Contest 2017

Sri Lanka is blessed with breathtaking landscapes and alluring vistas that entice travel enthusiasts to indulge in its heavenly charms. A vibrantly diverse sociocultural fabric complements this natural beauty, transforming the island into ‘the place to be’ to explore and discover as many narratives as you’d care to take in.

This is the isle of paradise, after all!

In keeping with this ethos, Cinnamon Hotels & Resor-ts is embarking on a venture to bring the charm of the Sri Lankan experience into the limelight with the Cinnamon Sri Lanka Photo Contest 2017.

Planned to run as a biannual contest, the competition is open to all photography and videography enthusiasts from around the world, be they pros or amateurs. The grand winner will capture the title ‘Cinnamon Sri Lanka Photographer of the Year,’ a mouth-watering cash bonanza of US$ 5,000 and a three-week curated all-expenses paid photography tour of Sri Lanka.

The competition entails seven categories, each aiming to highlight a different aspect of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean – viz. nature, wildlife and marine photography; landscapes and cityscapes; interiors; culture and people; activity and adventure; deeper perspectives/photo essays; and travel shorts (short videos of montages or narratives).

Creating an ideal platform for all you shutterbugs out there to showcase your creative streaks, and mastery of composition and storytelling through narratives, this event will bring the best of Sri Lanka to the forefront through the lens like no other.

The contest is open for registrations until 15 May, following which the initial screening will be completed by the last week of May. Final judging is scheduled for the first week of June. The process will culminate with a gala awards ceremony and exhibition to be held over the first week of June.

Masters of photography and videography who have taken the sphere of creative arts by storm Karl Taylor, Ami Vitale, Paul Goldstein, Chitral Jayatilake, Gehan de Silva Wijeyeratne and Dinesh Khanna will serve on the panel of judges.

In addition, Karl Taylor will conduct a workshop that is to focus on a range of topics such as natural light portraiture, the business of photography, and photoshop/lightroom and post-production processes. The workshop will be open to photography en-thusiasts, professional and amateur photographers among other interested participants.

So what are you waiting for…?

Explore, dream, discover and capture Sri Lanka in all its glory – and win amazing prizes and create unforgettable memories.
