Photo enthusiasts win big at the Cinnamon Sri Lanka Photo Contest 2017 and the competition yields a striking collection of travel imagery
An exciting signature event conducted by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, the most recent edition of Cinnamon Sri Lanka Photo Contest ended with six winners from a cross section of categories. This year’s winners were selected from nearly 1,280 partici-pants who submitted over 5,750 entries.
By curating one of the most vibrant and captivating image banks for Sri Lanka, the contest reiterates the island’s positioning as a truly diverse and memorable holiday destination. The shortlisted entries were judged by a high profile panel that included award-winning photographers such as Ami Vitale, Chitral Jayatilake, Paul Goldstein and Gehan de Silva Wijeyeratne among others.
Raveendra Siriwardene – the recipient of the overall grand prize and ‘Sri Lanka Tourism Photography’ award – emerged victo-rious in the ‘Sri Lanka Tourism Nature, Wildlife & Marine Photography’ category. As the grand prize winner, he assumes the title ‘Cinnamon Photographer of the Year’ along with a cash prize of US$ 5,000, international media exposure, a six-page spread in Cinnamon magazine and an all expenses paid curated photography tour around the country.
